I’m just another average Singaporean, I guess. Much as I’d like to believe otherwise.

That is a brief summary of my life so far. And you can probably get a hint that I’m fairly pleased with my brains.
I am a computer enthusiast, priding myself on the speed at which I pick up technologies with little or no help.

I love meddling with hardware, particularly building, salvaging, and repairing systems. I’ve supported AMD since their 486 days, and have used every series of their processors prior to and including the AMD XPs. I am now looking forward to the day I can afford to own a Dual Core Dual Processor System (read AMD 200 series Opterons).
I am a fervent programmer, particular in web aspects.

  • Current Strengths: Perl, PHP, MySQL, Bash
  • Dormant Skills: C, C++, ASP, and Flash
  • Forgotten Powers: Those that have little practical aspects in recent days, namely Assembly and COBOL.

These days, I remain on Ubuntu Linux, after having been impressed by their 5.04 Hoary Hedgehog release amongst all the Linux distributions I tried during that timeframe. At the end of the day, I suppose I was impressed with Debian’s approach, just that Ubuntu happened to the Debian variant getting the limelight.

Other hobbies of mine include shopping at Bangkok (cheap and nice apparel), volleyball (been a long time since I played) and soccer (was a goalkeeper and admired Peter Schmeichel). And of course, Manchester United Football Club is my favourite team.

I am happily married to my wife Elena, whom I dated for nearly 8 years (from 8 Feb 1996) until our marriage on 31 Dec 2003, at Level 5 Ballroom Orchard Mandarin. And I have to mention, my ex-colleagues since the Midshipman days in OCS provided us with an unforgettable ceremony. My first child, a beautiful baby girl by the name of Reyanne Lee Swee Enn was born on 28 May 2006. Those wishing to check her out should follow the link available in the links section.

ConceptLane Pte Ltd was set up by me back in 2000 during the dotcom bubble, but due to various reasons, remained dormant and under the ownership of my sister and close friend. But now, I’m running full-time, and hoping things will be on the up very soon. A new division for the distribution of electronic components was set up in 2006. Currently, still dabbling my toes in the distribution business while solely overseeing the IT business. It’s a tough but exciting road ahead.
