Happenings…

Well, days flew past yet again. It’s finally time to start shifting into ConceptLane’s new office. Much to move, much to do.

What we did was to use half the space for the office, and the remaining half for warehousing purposes. By getting 4 pieces of 9′x12′ carpets and laying them in a 2×2 arrangement, we were able to cover a good half of the office. A much better arrangement than our original plan of operating on cold gray bare cement.

It’s going to be a hectic weekend, having to move all the bulky items. And then I’ll have to reconfigure the entire network to suit my plan. Shift some hardware around, reinstall proper original software, and to get a broadband connection. M1BB looks the most affordable and logical solution for now.

On a separate note, I finally got the Belkin F1DE101G KVM-Over-IP Console which I purchased over eBay working. After getting an exchange for another refurbished unit from Belkin Tech Support Department with minimal fuss, which is really really very much appreciated, I spent a while trying things out. Initially, it was no joy, and I got a little flustered and annoyed. No IP issued by my router, and no connected device as well. Went ahead to buy a straight DB9 Female-Female cable, as I thought it might be a case of the Console being configured to not work with cross(null) cables. Still no joy. Hyperterm showed no response when being connected with either null or straight cable. And then, out of the blue, I decided to try leaving Hyperterm in “connected” mode, and hit the reset button on the Console. Weyhey! Hyperterm gave me a menu, went ahead to configure and set the IP to one on my network, and from then on, everything was working as I expected in the first place. A load off my mind, and it’s now time to tinker about with my managed switch to see how I can allocate only 1 IP to my switch instead of allocating to both the switch and the Console. Have got something in mind, but will only have time to try that out when the office relocation is complete.

More to talk about soon, just too much has happened/will be happening.
